Cenote Cristal Sinkhole | Yucatán Mx

Cenote Cristal, the cenotes of the Mayan riviera are very close to the sea and that is why it is common to observe the particular “halocline” effect, which makes us look blurred under water, caused by mixing fresh and salt water.

Here you will find two cenotes together, facing each other divided by the road.

How to get

How to get to Cenote Cristal by public transport:

From Mérida
The best way is to take a bus, different terminals offer a route to Tulum, from first class to the cheapest, you just have to choose.

Price: $ 150 Economic class up to $ 250 first class.
Route: 4 hours.

You can take it in the center of Mérida in the Oriente terminal, or your preferred company.

Tulum to the cenote
Hire the service of a taxi driver to go to the cenote and agree an hour to return for you, the second option is to walk 4.5 kilometers from the center of Tulum on the road to Muyil until you find the entrance to the cenote visible on the right side of the highway.

NOTE:
In front of the cenote Escondido is the Cristal cenote, these two are managed by the same people, to pay the access of one you have the right to visit the other.

From Cancun
The way to transport yourself faster than a bus are the VAN vans.

They can be taken in the parking lot of the Super Comercial Mexicana market in front of the roundabout where the monument to the history of Mexico is located.

The trucks take you to Playa del Carmen ($ 40 aprox) where you will take another van in the same place to Tulum ($ 40 mxn)

 

How to get to Cenote Cristal by car:
By federal road 307 from Cancun the route is less than 2 hours to Tulum.

From Mérida
The route can vary between 4 and 5 hours by free highway, by highway paying a fee of $ 160 for the caria route between 3 and 3:30 hours.

Four kilometers from Tulum you will observe the entrance to the cenote on the right side of the road.

Description
This cenote is located very close to the town Tulum, on the road to Muyil, its depth is low (6m approx) with deeper banks, is surrounded by dense vegetation, which gives this cenote a very natural jungle landscape.
