Ik kil cenote [sinkhole] Yucatán Mx

This cenote is located within an ecotourism park and has various services and amenities.

How to get

How to get to cenote ik-kil public transport:

To get to the cenote Ik kil you must go first to the Chichen Itza archaeological zone, since the cenote is 4 km later and there is no transport that takes you straight from Mérida.

When you arrive at Chichén Itzá you can walk those 4 km to the cenote Ik kil.

From Mérida (Yuc) take a bus in the ORIENTE or NORESTE terminal located in the center of the city, towards Chichén Itzá ($ 72 per ticket), when you reach this destination, walk on the road 4 km until you reach the cenote or visit first the archaeological area.

Check the address of the terminals by clicking on their names in blue. NORTHEAST, EAST.

 

How to get to cenote ik-kil auto:

From the city Mérida (Yuc) it leads to the East on 59th Street, in the direction of Cancún or Valladolid road, since the archaeological zone is on this one, after the Pisté town you will find the archaeological zone, at an average speed you will arrive in less than two hours.

You can take the motorway to avoid crossing the towns before arriving at Chichén Itzá, the booth is after the town Kantunil where the deviation will be to go by free highway or highway. (120 km by free road).

After passing the town Pisté you will observe the Chichen Itza archeological zone, 4 km later you will find the entrance to the ecotourism park where the cenote Ik kil is located.

A possible interpretation in the Mayan language of the word Ik kil would be shower or bath, taking the etymology of the word ichkil = shower or bath; this word could have an adaptation or castellanización ending as Ik kil.
