Museum of the Yucatecan song
The trova is considered “cultural heritage of the people of Yucatan”. The museum erected in his honor houses portraits in oil and sculptures in bronze of the greatest representatives of this poetic musical genre.
The museum was founded on November 5, 1978, at the initiative of Mrs. Rosario Cáceres Baqueiro de Manzanilla, granddaughter of the composer Cirilo Baqueiro Preve “Chan-Cil”.
Called “A door to the world of romantic music”, the Museum of Song houses more than 50 portraits in oil of composers, performers, poets or promoters of the Yucatecan song, which was forged with great influence of Cuban music and the Spanish
Some of the personal objects of the composers, letters, manuscripts and instruments that belonged to them are also exhibited.
Fruit of the particular initiative of a group of enthusiastic promoters of the vernacular song, this museum is supported by the selfless work of a few people.
