ZOO MAT | Chiapas Mx
ZOOMAT, was built inside the natural reserve “El zapotal”, the most fascinating feature of the place is that you can observe 79 endemic species (animals) in their natural environment, walking through a circuit of 2.5km; Some, like the monkeys, are free throughout the zoo.

How to get to ZOOMAT by public transport:
The zoo is in the “Calzada Cerro Hueco, Colonia Zapotal”, you can take a “combi” (collective transport) with route # 60 that leads directly to the entrance of the zoo, a Taxi from areas near the center of the city can charge between $ 60 and $ 80.
The zoo is in the zapotal reserve on the slopes of the hill, near the south pound, another option is to take any public transport that circulates on the south bypass, ask the driver to lower you on the way up to the zoo and walk approximately 800m, Remember that it is a hill and you will walk uphill, but it does not represent great difficulty.
How to get to ZOOMAT by car:

Miguel Álvarez del Toro regional zoo
Meaning of the name:
Called “Zoológico Miguel Álvarez del Toro” for the contributions that this character made as a researcher and defender of the natural resources of Chiapas.
It was founded by the naturalist Elíseo Palacios Aguilera in 1942 with the important contribution of Miguel Álvarez del Toro, at first the zoo was in the western area of the city, then moved to the eastern area in the Madero Park and finally in the reserve the zapotal where it is currently.
