Amazing nature landscapes

Chiapas is one of the most biodiverse states of Mexico, among its tourist attractions the traveler enjoy: waterfalls, geological formations (canyons), biosphere reserves, cities of the Mayan civilization in the jungle and a great cultural heritage of the native people.

It’s enough to travel 30 minutes by car to go from a tropical climate with jungle environment to a temperate and mountainous ecosistems. If you like contrasts of nature and culture, this is one of the best places to travel.

In terms of geography the territory is very changeable, each municipality offers a different experience in terms of landscapes, languages, traditions, climates, clothing, gastronomy and life style.

Location:

Chiapas is located in southern Mexico, to the north has borders with Tabasco and Veracrúz, to the west with Oaxaca, in the south borders with Guatemala and the Pacific Ocean.

Among its famous tourist attractions the traveler can enjoy:  the magical town of San Cristóbal de las Casas with a very cosmopolitan and cultural atmosphere; El Cañón del Sumidero a very impressive geological fault where you can enjoy a boat tour among the immense walls of the canyon; the Lacandona jungle and the nature reserve known as Montes Azules.

Another very special destination is Las Guacamayas, a sanctuary for exotic birds with quills of colors: red, blue and yellow (macaws).

Mayan culture:

In Chiapas the Mayan culture developed during the Classic period, time of glory and maximum splendor, thanks to that it is possible to appreciate impressive cities with beautiful architecture lost in the jungle.

Among the most outstanding cities the traveler can enjoy: Palenque, Yaxchilán, Bonampak and Chinkultic.
